Lia's Poetry

Lia will have to admit she has a problem. How best to put her poetry down, she has some 60-100 poems written (she hasnt counted them of late lol). Whether to put them into sections, post a selection each month? She thought she'd post two of her favourites up here anyway. Again, all poems featured here are copyright c/o Lia! Anyway, Enjoy what's here :D

House of Dreams

My house of dreams,
locked away from prying eyes,
opened to those who touch something within me,

The nooks and crannies remind me that
there are hidden delights and fears
waiting to be discovered.

Through the windows shine the
light that burns within me
Perhaps one day it will guide a kindred soul
onwards to the home of my heart.

The chimneys exude the smoke
from the fires that inspire or engulf me.
Thoughts are born sitting under the stars
whilst on those steps;
The garden is where my childhood, youth and all its experiences
are nurtured and bloom.

This is where the lifetime of my dreams are carefully stored,
to be opened when times are hard and when comfort and serenity can envelop me.

For no matter what troubles or joys are to be found around the corner,
My house of dreams will always be there
as my rock, my strength, my salvation.

"Home is where the heart is"
Let this be true in my house of dreams.

To My father

You have nurtured me to be strong in the
face of adversity,
You have taught me to love whole-heartedly
those who care for me,
You have guided me through all the trials
and tribulations of my young life.

Both my mother and yourself
have shown me that love has
the power to surpass all obstacles
and to motivate your soul to achieve
greater things.

I am glad to have you as
my father,
Quiet, strong, loving,
I hope that I will someday
find a man who is as
Caring, compassionate and intelligent
as you are,
I dedicate this poem to you,
my dearest father.

Father’s day

Love is……

Love is….
when you can make him get up and dance
When he normally watches from the sidelines.

Love is….
when she will fly thousands of miles just to be with you
Despite the hardship of moving to a totally different country.

Love is…
when those around you can spot the happiness you two create in each other.

Love is….
When you understand what each other is saying without actually saying anything.

Love is….
When a look is enough to get whatever you need from the other.

Love is…
Knowing you were the right one as soon as you looked in each other’s eyes.

The two of you have love stamped on your relationship
And this is a marriage that will last.

Congratulations on your wedding day
Love is wherever the two of you are.
