August 2002 where their arrival was sudden.
THE STORY UNFOLDS....
Mama had been shopping, went for a long walk and still
no major labour pains. On the day (37 weeks), Mama had
again been shopping with Gramma and Grandpa and feeling
some form of increased discharge, sought the opinion
of the clinic who suggested she come in for a check-up.
After waiting some time for the appearance of the OB/GYN,
their heartbeats were checked and no signs of stress.
The doctor did a scan and said that we need to do an
emergency C-section as one of the sacks had begun leaking
aminiotic fluid and we had no contractions and inducing
would be too traumatic all around*. The boys were in
the right position but were "knocking" each
other away from the birth canel. (so it began even then!).
*P.S. Gramma reminded me of some points I missed here-
Jamie's amnio sac was almost dry due to excessive leaking
therefore risk of infection. He was lower down and nearest
to birth canal whereas Josh was higher up and not ready
for delivery, hence induction would not have been safe
and due to risks to both babies - emergency caesarean
had to be performed. *
Gramma and Grandpa took Mama to the hospital where
Papa met them and she was checked in. The "geng"
were notified as well as Ah Ma, Ah Kow and Uncle Kevin.
Gramma and Grandpa went to get Say Ku who was in his
appartment. The nurses were surprised by the number
of people who were waiting eagerly for the birth of
the twins, Uncle Sree being the first to arrive and
then Aunty Ceri and the family.
Mama was prepped up and ready to go and after the local
anath. Mama and Papa got to see the two lil uns being
born and they were whisked away to the intensive care
unit after a quick kiss from Mama and Papa as their
body temperature had dropped a lil dramatically (the
theatre was freeezing! even for Mama so it must have
been such a shock for them.) So to cut a long story
short, they were born amidst all the loving people in
their lives and Papa and Mama were so thrilled to be
blessed with two lil bundles of joy!
It has been an uphill battle initially with the breastfeeding
and learning to care for them for both Mama and Papa
but everyone has been so supportive and helpful for
the most part for us and the lil uns so thank you all!
Thank you!
the Cuddly Family.
Arent they the cutest?!
